Personal Data

While using our Service, We may ask You to provide certain personally identifiable information, which may include but is not limited to:

Usage Data

We collect Usage Data automatically when You use the Service. This may include Your Device's IP address, browser type and version, pages visited, time and date of visits, unique device identifiers, and other diagnostic data. For mobile access, similar device-specific data may be collected.

Information from Third-Party Social Media Services

You may register or log in using third-party services including Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. We may collect associated data such as Your name, email, activities, and contact list from those accounts if You authorize this access.

AI & Document Data Processing Clarification

User Uploaded Documents and AI Interactions

When You upload documents to Solara, files are stored using Supabase storage. Uploaded documents undergo automated text extraction and are chunked into smaller parts to support AI-based chat and analysis features. When interacting with documents via AI chat, only relevant text chunks are retrieved and used as context.

Please note:
  • Data stored on Supabase is not encrypted at rest by Solara.
  • Solara has no Data Processing Addendum (DPA) with OpenAI, any content submitted via AI features that communicate with OpenAI’s API may be used by OpenAI to train their models, subject to OpenAI’s privacy policies.
  • You retain full ownership and control over your uploaded data and may delete documents, AI chat conversations, ideas, and writing documents at any time, which permanently removes them from our systems.

Use of Your Personal Data

The Company may use Personal Data for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain our Service and monitor usage
  • To manage Your Account and registration
  • To perform contractual obligations
  • To contact You via email, phone, SMS or push notifications regarding updates, security, or products
  • To provide news, offers, and promotions unless You opt out
  • To attend and manage Your requests
  • To evaluate or conduct business transfers such as mergers or asset sales
  • For data analysis, trend monitoring, promotion effectiveness, and Service improvement

Third-Party Services Specifics

Solara uses the following third-party services for essential functionality:

  • OpenAI: For AI language processing features like AI assistant, idea generation, and research planning. OpenAI processes data you send to their API in accordance with OpenAI’s Privacy Policy.
  • Stripe: For payment processing, subscription management, and billing. Stripe handles payment data as stated in their Privacy Policy.
  • Supabase: Backend infrastructure provider for user authentication, file storage, and database management. Supabase Privacy Policy.
  • Google OAuth: Provides login and signup via Google accounts. Google processes data as detailed in their Privacy Policy.

Data sharing with these providers is limited to service facilitation and governed by appropriate data protection measures.

No Reference Management Clarification

While Solara facilitates citation generation and insertion in your documents, this functionality operates entirely on the client side. Solara does not store or manage reference lists or bibliographies on your behalf. All citation data remains under your control.

User Consent for Data Processing

By using Solara’s Service, including document uploads, AI interactions, and account creation, You explicitly consent to Our collection, use, storage, and processing of Your personal data and uploaded content as described in this Privacy Policy, including processing through third-party services (OpenAI, Stripe, Supabase, Google OAuth).

Tracking Technologies and Cookies

Currently, Solara does not use cookies or tracking technologies beyond essential session management. Should this change in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe such usage, and options to manage or disable cookies will be provided.

Retention of Your Personal Data

  • Account deletion functionality is not available yet but is planned.
  • You can delete any uploaded documents, text chunks, AI conversations, ideas, and writing documents from your account at any time; deletion permanently removes these from our systems.
  • Research plans are not stored since users download them; thus, no retention occurs for plans.
  • Usage data, logs, and analytics are retained typically for 6 to 12 months for security and improvement purposes.

Transfer of Your Personal Data

Your information may be processed and stored at Our operational locations and by third-party providers, which might be outside Your state, province, or country with varying data protection laws.
