Welcome to Solara Research (“Solara”, “We”, “Us”, or “Our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website, platform, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

Please read these Terms carefully before using the Service. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

2. Account Registration

  • You may be required to create an account to access certain features of the Service.
  • You agree to provide accurate, complete, and current information during registration and to update this information as necessary.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
  • You must notify Us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

3. Use of the Service

  • Solara provides AI-powered tools and features to assist with research, document analysis, writing, and citation generation.
  • You retain full intellectual ownership of your work and uploaded content.
  • You agree to use the Service only for lawful and legitimate purposes in compliance with all applicable local, provincial, national, and international laws.
  • You will not misuse the Service or interfere with its normal operation, including but not limited to violating usage limits or attempting unauthorized access.

4. User Content and Uploaded Data

  • You retain all rights to data and content you upload or create using the Service (documents, ideas, AI chat conversations, etc.).
  • By uploading content, you grant Solara a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and use the data strictly to provide the Service and improve its features.
  • Uploaded documents and associated data are stored on third-party storage providers (Supabase) and processed to enable AI features as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • You are responsible for the content you upload and must ensure it does not violate laws or third-party rights.
  • You acknowledge that while Solara facilitates AI interactions, the Service is not a substitute for academic rigor or professional advice, and outputs should be reviewed accordingly.

5. AI Usage and Third-Party Services

  • Solara uses third-party AI providers (OpenAI) and other services (Stripe, Supabase, Google OAuth). Use of AI features implies consent to data processing per their policies as detailed in our Privacy Policy.
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of AI-generated content.
  • You accept that some AI data may be used by OpenAI for model training as per their policies.

6. Subscription Plans, Usage Limits, and Payments

  • Solara offers Free and Pro subscription plans with differing features and usage limits.
  • Usage limits are enforced to ensure fair use. Pro users have higher or unlimited quotas.
  • Payments are processed through Stripe; by purchasing a subscription, you authorize billing and accept Stripe’s terms.
  • Subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by law.
  • You may cancel or downgrade your subscription at any time; however, prepaid fees are non-refundable.

7. Intellectual Property

  • All content and technology provided by Solara, including software, logos, designs, and trademarks, remain the property of the Company or its licensors.
  • You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without express written permission.
  • By submitting content or materials, you warrant you have the rights to grant any necessary licenses to Solara.

8. Termination

  • We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without notice, for violation of these Terms or for any other reason.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the Service immediately ceases. We may delete or retain your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

  • The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind.
  • Solara does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
  • We are not responsible for any damages arising from your use or inability to use the Service, including but not limited to loss of data or profits.
  • Your use of AI-generated content is at your own risk and should be verified especially for academic integrity.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Solara, its affiliates, officers, agents, and employees from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada.
  • Any disputes arising under or related to these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Toronto, Ontario.

12. Changes to These Terms

  • We may modify these Terms at any time by posting the updated Terms on the website.
  • We will notify you of significant changes via email or prominent notification.
  • Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
